See required training before applying. Resumes requested. Primary Responsibility: Ensure the proper and adequate care for all pets in custody of Shelby County Animal Control. Duties & responsibilities shall include the following, but not limited to: Examine & provide basic care to animals upon intake, take photos, prepare a file for each, input into software and schedule any veterinary care needed. Feed/water, clean kennels/cages of pets daily. Monitor for medical needs, behavioral issues, etc. Ensure physical exercise and/or mental stimulation is provided to all pets daily. Assist in public relations for animal welfare programs, advertisements, education, vouchers, vet visits, etc. Process adoption applications, appointments, and follow-up. Record keeping via software program, daily updates including field calls and animals. Answer phones and arrange field calls and follow-ups. Public communications daily QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to input data into software, update, and maintain on a daily basis. Use of spreadsheets required also. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as federal and state regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's License, current Humane Animal Care Training, current Veterinary Technician license or Veterinary Assistant training.
